Trump at the Needle Gate.

The Gospel of Matthew 19:24 tells us Jesus said it is more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle. The eye of the needle is a gate in the walls of Jerusalem that is very narrow. This is interpreted by many biblical scholars as Jesus saying, wealthy people are usually not so moral as to deserve a heavenly reward.

While I have great doubts about the actual existence of heaven let’s just assume the place exists. Whom do you think is going to be accepted there? Some say admission is based on deeds. Some believe it’s at the whim of Jesus, regardless of your character and actions, if you accept him as your savior. I call that the “get out of hell free card.”

Recently, in a rare display of insight, Trump speculated that he probably will not qualify for admission to the heavenly kingdom.

Ya think?

Before we go on about that heavenly prize, let’s talk about another one a misguided Trump thinks he does deserve, the Nobel Peace Prize. People misunderstand what Trump is trying to say when he says he deserves the Peace prize. Being severely challenged by the English language, Trump mistakes the spelling of “peace” as “piece.” If there were a “piece” prize, he would surely deserve it. He cheered on Israel as it decimated Gaza into pieces, encourages Putin to take huge pieces of Ukraine and ultimately Western Europe, and always makes sure he gets a piece of the action with every underhanded scheme that he can get his fingers on. He has also cut the constitution into pieces and chainsawed into pieces the entire workings of the federal government. Thanks to him the whole country has been divided into two pieces that will agree about nothing.

On the other hand he uses the word “piece” correctly in terms of the criteria he has established for selecting female officials in his government. The most important criterion is that they are, to use the term he lovingly, and with such class, applied to his own daughter, a “piece of a – –. “

That clarified, we now return to the heaven issue.

In his so-called “wager,” Pascal suggested, if you really don’t believe in heaven, or in Jesus as savior, it doesn’t hurt to say you do because, if they don’t exist, you’re not going to heaven anyway. So just say you believe just in case they do. This wager has been characterized as a fallacy, because God would know if your professions of faith were sincere.

Based on the fact that he almost never attends church, and he promulgates evil on a scale with the most rotten people in history, poor Donald is most certainly correct. Based on both criteria his getting into heaven is unlikely. Still, based on how he wiggled out of punishment for his many earthly crimes, I would be reluctant to completely rule out the possibility he may actually find a way to squirm through that needle after all.

No, it is it not impossible for the camel to get through, but in order to do so he would have to be completely unloaded of the goods he was carrying, squeezed through the needle, then all the goods put through and then he’d have to be reloaded. What a pain in the butt.

Now speaking of butts, Donald’s butt cannot be removed and reassembled so if he really thinks he has a camel’s chance of getting through he had better get into a lot better shape. And that brings us back to the same dilemma, because the chances of his doing so are even less likely than the chances of that camel getting through.

Trump went on to speculate whether, given his luxurious lifestyle, he actually is already in heaven. I think this is very telling. My sense is that part of the moral deterioration of our culture is the fact that more and more people consider heaven in materialistic terms, and a lot of people who profess to believe heaven exists really know deep in their hearts it does not. Therefore, good behavior has become less important to them. For those who believe admission is based solely on accepting Jesus as Savior, good behavior is, of course, completely irrelevant.

As I approach the time when I may find out whether or not heaven exists, I remain skeptical and unconcerned. Sort of like Trump, I feel the time I have spent on Earth has indeed been heavenly. That may make it sound like I agree with Trump, but unlike him I know that if there is such a thing as heaven on Earth, it would not be living a lavish lifestyle. Jesus and I agree a heavenly worldly life would be one that honors God’s moral Commandments and provides the satisfaction of knowing you tried your best, sincerely, to be a good human being. Though, as is the case with all of us imperfect humans, I certainly am no paragon of goodness, there is no doubt in my mind that if Don and I showed up at the pearly gates at the same time and only one of us could enter it would be I. What amusement it would provide to pass my skinny body through the opening while watching Donald grunting, cursing all those burgers and fries that made his butt so huge, and too late, feeling remorse for his butt headed evil behavior–not that he would.

Though the existence of heaven is dubious, I would like it to be true, less so because I personally would wish to enter it but for the satisfaction of knowing Trump’s evil nature and phony claims of reverence for God will likely keep him out and ensure his, well deserved, eternal damnation.
