It’s All Biden’s Fault

CNN and MSNBC tend to have commercial breaks simultaneously. What’s a newshound on a treadmill at the Y supposed to do when he can’t stand watching the same ads for the umpteenth million time?

Forgive me, Father. I have sinned.

Today I held my nose and switched to Faux News. Just to see what the other half watch.

Now I know why the people tuned permanently to Fox believe the MAGA line. When good looking women sit in front of you, their knees demurely crossed below short skirts and recite through lovely lips a string of lies that are rendered plausible by twisted figures and out of context quotes, it’s hard not to pay attention. The sultry sophists were commenting on a press conference in which Karine Jean-Pierre had touted the drop in inflation over the past year.

Their argument was that since things are more expensive than they were in 2020, inflation is actually getting worse. The drop this year? A fleeting aberration, no sign of any trend and unrelated to the labors of the Fed. It’s all Biden’s fault, of course. Bidenomics is a huge failure and is the cause of “Bidenflation.”

Why was there inflation to begin with? Nary a reason offered. That the rate of inflation looks like it has stabilized and the economy is probably going to make the soft landing so many experts feared it wouldn’t? Not mentioned. That labor and wages made huge strides since Biden came in? That’s socialism. What Bidenomics actually are? Who knows, who cares? It has “Biden” in it so it must be bad.

Meanwhile, in no small part thanks to the Fox propaganda machine, people continue to believe the economy is in the toilet (even as they have enough personal wealth to blow $12 billion on Black Friday and that much and more on Cyber Monday.)

Maybe some of them blew their rent money in order to give the kids a “good” Christmas. Now they feel poor. Who is to blame? Need we ask?

To Fox, Bidenomics is a four letter word with which to blame poor Joe for our financial woes, real and imagined. Likewise an actual four letter word, “woke,” code for every good thing progressives are working to accomplish and conservatives consider the work of Satan.

Fox news assures us that even though he is an ineffectual doddering old man, Biden controls everything including the lousy economy he inherited from Trump, the absurd tax code and huge national debt he inherited from Trump, the covid epidemic he inherited from Trump, market forces and supply chain disruptions he inherited from Trump and a world order turned topsy-turvy in no small measure thanks to the incoherent foreign policy of Donald Trump.

Does Fox mention that corporations are raising prices under the cover of inflation, boosting their profits and fueling inflation? Nope. Obviously it’s all on Biden.

I wish Joe could be so omnipotent. Things would be a whole lot better for sure.

The power of the human mind to believe whatever it wishes to is demonstrated by the effect Fox “news” has on its audience as it brings to fruition the prophesies of George Orwell.

Whatever nastiness is going on anywhere in the world, we are told, it is all Biden’s and the Democrats’ fault. Trump indicted on a hundred counts? It’s the weaponized Biden Justice Department. It rained today? Blame it on the climate policies of Biden and the libs. Got a flat tire? Biden didn’t go out and pick up all the nails from the highways he promised to fix. Gas too expensive? Biden won’t let us drill in Alaska. Your kid is is in high school and still can’t read? Guess whose fault that is. Not that it matters. Who needs to read? Just get your info from Fox.

Yes, Biden is to blame for it all. And the fact that the Republicans in Congress block any and all legislation that might help solve our problems? That’s his fault too, because he’s too stubborn to knuckle under one hundred percent to their knucklehead ultimatums.

What’s really scary about this is that Fox is nowhere nearly as toxic as the stuff that’s going around social media, the primary source of “news” for most people. Thanks to conservative lawsuits, the government has stopped warning Meta about foreign disinformation campaigns. Russia, if you are listening, inundate Meta with your disinformation just in time for the elections. Hate speech has become the stock in trade of the aptly named “X,” encouraged by the ultra-wealthy Elon Musk. He recently agreed with an antisemitic trope, endorsed the totally discredited “pizza gate” conspiracy theory and turned off his satellites when they were critically needed in Ukraine.

I never cease to marvel at what filthy rich people will sink to just to make another measly billion bucks and how much influence evil or ignorant people with money can wield.

But, hey, let’s keep our eye on the ball. It’s all Biden’s fault. All of it. Face it and remember it when you vote or, better yet, Democratic leaning voters, when you don’t bother to vote. Forget what a disaster the Trump years were and plug your ears to how he vows to destroy our democratic system.
